If you want the fluffiest pancakes, Mildred’s is the place to go. The brunch scene is massive in Toronto, but so far Mildred’s is my staple for brunch. There are only two items that I typically order:
- Mrs. Biederhof’s Legendary Lighting & Fluffy Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
- Veda’s Choice.
I’ve had many pancakes and these are one of the best. They are fluffy, moist and the blueberry topping, tops all toppings. However I will warn you, if you order the main dish, it’s a lot for a carbs to take in in one sitting. I would suggest sharing this dish or ordering it as a side.
Veda’s Choice is pretty much a smoked salmon benedict. It’s like any typical benedict but instead of an English muffin, it’s between a freshly baked croissant. The smoked salmon gives it a nice touch of flavour and brings colour to the dish.
If you haven’t noticed, the serving sizes for the main dishes are quite reasonable in size. The one thing I would mention, is that the parfait may be a bit too small for the price. Instead, order the scones or biscuits or both, they are worth the extra calories.
I love Mildred’s Temple for brunch. The service, the venue, the natural sunlight shining in and the food, everything just compliments each other, making the whole experience, from start to finish, perfect for a Sunday morning.
TIP: Come early and beat the rush. Otherwise be ready to wait up to an hour for a seat. It isn’t a small place, but it does get busy! Luckily, they take your number so they can text you when your table is ready.
